Ready, set , GO!!
We had fun learning about motion, physics, air pressure and friction among others all while playing with balloons.
Schooling really is that fun!!

Schooling with the Sun
Having bright and sunshiney days nakes schooling at the kitchen table difficult for us all.
So i have taken it outside for the past week.
From solar prints and a sundial.
To shadow tracing,
Solar oven building,
and sun tea making.
Great schooling I think!!

Salt Crystals
We used a strong salt solution and let these crystals grow (dry) in a dish.
I love that the girls can see each solid formation and get a real sense of what it is we pour out of the salt shaker.
Kitchen science rocks!!

Science Stuff
The kids are having a great session of schoooling lately.
We have had so much time to enjoy crafting and experimenting.
This was a neat little project that was quick to set up and quick for results.
Perfect mod day boredom buster too.
We also heated up some larger beach rocks in the oven and drew on them with crayons.
I have these in the garden now and they are colourfully beautiful.

Stalagmites and Stalactites
Using a heavy solution of epsom salt and water that we died blue, we watched these stalactites grow.
Every time they'd get long enough to look at and photograph a kid would accidentally knock it off.
This si the only one i managed to get.
Its a great little experiment, please don't judge it by these photos.

Daffodils
I thought this was a pretty cool idea.
We've done it with carnations before so why not daffodils.
Unfortunately before we could see if it worked the daffodils died.
All dried up.
Maybe the food coouring killed them?

Plant Science
We've tried this with carnations and roses, but for an Eastery feel we are trying a daffodil this time.

Science World-
The Our World Exhibit is a great resource to teach the kids in a real visual manner about recycling, water, waste etc.
But this hamster wheel keeps them active for entirely way too long...
The outdoor exhibit was fun and interactive.
Lifting the garbage house was a real challenge.
But the most talked about, and new to us, was the sex exhibit.
This is me in shock.
We have had "The Talk " with the kids but not to this detail!!
I was answering entirely too many questions!!
I was stifling a laugh, like an immature school kid.
I loved, loved, loved the little pockets dioramas.
Science World is the best place to bring the kids.
Science World
Dads take on our adventure to Science World.
The kids love this place and we get there about 4 times per year, enough to make the annual membership worth it for us.
But dad does't get there as much, so he finds it humorous to find these "special" things.
The fact that I weigh as much as a giant beaver.
Or that I myself can be called a cougar!!
The view and the weather were fabulous.
This exhibit was great.
We ended up buying a huge box of these Keva blocks.
Check them out.
Travesia was really great as well.
All about grey whales.
SO much to learn.

Borax Crystals
Recipe is easy enough to find online and the process is extremely simple.
The results were fabulous.
Much better than the weeks it took to make minuscule crystals from salt of sugar.
This time the kids were so excited to see results and be able to actually see the product made.
