Art Party

I love decorating for parties.
The theme was an "Art Party", so I made paper splatter paint splotches all over the walls and decorated
the room full of colurs and supplies.
Hung brushes from the windows to add a fun new touch.

And lots of balloons and streamers of course.

It was a perfect painting party and all the kids had fun.

Bug Party

I hosted a Bug themed party the other day.
It was so cool.

We created and drew our own bugs and named them.

Fred was a person favorite of mine.

 We made woodland bugs from nature collected treasures.

 

Then they were painted and glittered up.

                                            Don't ever be fooled, glitter isn't just for girls.

 We traced, cut out and decorated dragonflies.

 Had a really good look at an array of bugs I had collected throughout the summer for just such a theme.

 There was a bench filled with crafting supplies so everyone could create an insect.

 Some even flew.

 We made creepy bug eyed spider finger puppets.

 And spoon beetles.

The came the snacks.

 And the cupcakes!!

 Then the gifts.

It was such a pleasure doing this party.
One main thing I love about this business is all the amazing people I get to meet.

Our decorations for this year!!
I love decorating for any season/holiday.

Art Lab

I made a cupboard full of these mason jar cups with a chalkboard panel on for each participant to write their names on when they grab one from the fridge.
This has become a favourite ritual for most kids when t hey come to play at the art lab.

I now have another sewing machine and a serger.
Sewing classes have been incredibly popular.
I am so excited and proud as I watch the kids learning to create with fabric.

And Lucky, we have recently found out, is going to be a mama.
I see a bunch of little artist kitties in our future.

One simple activity that was really fun was balloon painting.

The ever changing window drying/display.

Caveman Class

Today we finished our first Caveman Class.
I was 3 classes of getting down to caveman business.

We had so much fun talking and learning about what it would have been like to live like cavemen.

The discussions were so entertaining.

We learned some of the many ways cavemen left their mark and what we know of them today thanks to their artifacts and pictographs.
We replicated methods of painting with sticks and stones, with mud and, not so ancient, paint.

They discovered how hard it is to blow paint make leave hand prints.

We made clay/mud bowls and clay whistles as well, but i forgot to take pictures of those.

But the highlight was definitely the cave.

I created a large paper mache, cardboard cave that had 2 rooms and plenty of walls to paint.

The entire cave is now covered in grand adventure stories of wooly mammoth hunts and sabre tooth tiger captures.

We spent some time learning about tool making.

Lashing was our preferred method but we chatted about various other options available to cavemen with the resources they had at the time.

These kids had wild and vivid imaginations.
I could have chatted endlessly with this group about wild caveman adventures.

Like removing teether, cutting hair or making clothes and having a hot bath.
Brushing teeth and toilet paper was a funny topic.

I think we made some great art projects with these little cavemen and cavewomen.
