April Fools and Easter Time

I made lots of funny pranks this year, by far this was the best!!

The kids weren't super interested in the idea of easter eggs, but once i had all the supplies out they played for hours.

We've tried this with carnations and roses, but for an Eastery feel we are trying a daffodil this time.

Easter Egg Hunt In Cumberland

 Every year I usually put on our annual easter egg hunt in our yard.
This year I decided that I had enough and we all agreed it was time to let it go.
Literally the next day I  caught wind that the annual youngsters easter egg hunt in Cumberland needed a coordinator, so I stepped in to run  the show.
It was a very quickly organized event but it was a great success.
The weather even came out to play and everyone had a great time.

 A perfect start to  the easter weekend.

 Spent some time today making cards for those we love.

Egg-speriment

Placing an egg in a cup full of vinegar is an oldie but a goodie for the kids.

With Easter coming up we are doing egg crafts and such for the week.
After soaking for over 2 days we took the egg out and put it in a bowl.
It was super squishy and bouncy.

Once we finally were forceful enough to burst it, we had a double yolker surprise.
Then E yelled that it looked like a lady getting out of the shower!!

Easter

An early morning egg hunt filled the girls baskets with so many treasures that they could hardly believe it.
After eating chocolate for breakfast they were raring to go to the Local Riding Center for the annual Easter Egg Party.
J took them there so I could get set up for our egg hunt.
I sent the better part of the morning raking and cleaning the yard in the miserable rain we were having, but it cleared up and stayed that way for the entire egg hunt.
We were so lucky that almost everyone was able to make it and fun was had by all.

Every year I try to win a cake in the cake walk and ever year I am disappointed.

This year without me there K won a cake and was thrilled.

She flaunted it at me while giggling because she thought it was ironic and quite funny that she won one when I am eating RAW and cannot even enjoy it.

In the afternoon our Easter Egg hunt started.

At the starting line all the youngster lined up and were off and running with an "on your mark, get set, GO!!"

The big puddles only added to the fun.

Some didn't have baskets but found many creative ways to gather eggs.

This little lady used the hood of her coat.

8 acres makes it easy to have such an event and invite so many people.

I spend weeks getting it ready and buying the treats.

It gives me a push to get the yard in order after a long ugly winter.

I have it pretty well organized and every year it gets easier and more fun.

There were bunnies hidden up high on branches, eggs under the greenery and even socks in trees.

We have an egg return where all the plastics eggs go because we reuse them annually and the kids take the treats to enjoy.

It also allows them to see what they got on the hunt and start nibbling away.

Some trade treats or toss unwanted ones but there never seems to be any left hanging around by the end.

We serve good old hot dogs and juice afterwards.

Every year I have intentions of a few games but it rarely happens because all the kids are in a millions places.

Some in the chicken coup, or on the swings, in the garden, playing with dogs, running through the trails to find any forgotten eggs or playing on the trampoline.

A few kids found this rope and started an impromptude tug of war.

After a busy day, my girls are laying down watching a movie and winding down from their sugar highs.

Ahhww!!The joys of the holidays.
