Photo Prop

I love this old bike.
But I love it even more since I sprayed it blue!!

We used it in a family portrait and it now lives perched by one of our old apple trees by the garden.

pyrex bowls and green glass love

I feel very nostalgic lately.
I love the vintage stuff.
A garage sale I hit up 2 weeks ago had a box full of green glass ware.
Some old, some older, some retro knock offs, but all cool just the same.
E has taken to filling every thing in our house with flowers, greenwares not off limits.

Then I was spoiled with a gift from a sweet dear friend as a thank you for minding her children for a night.
A wicked set of red Pyrex bowls.
How cool are these!?!
Can't wait for BBQ's so I can show these off.

Puddles and Stuff

I found an old storage ottoman at a garage sale last weekend for 2 bucks and knew I could do something with it.
Yesterday I managed to match up some fabrics from my ever growing collection and recovered the old thing.
I love the new breathe of life in an otherwise garaged item.
Mind you I may never be asked or paid to do any upholstering, but for me it is good enough and the kids love it.
It has a corner in our living room and has been a hiding spot, a dog pen and a trampoline all just this afternoon.

A simple pleasure.

This is my Molly. She is a real treasure. Sweet girl.

Playing in puddles when I was a kid was something I fondly remember.
The splashing, the muck, the bliss of getting dirty and it somehow being alright.

After that incredible thunder storm last night and the rain that come with it, our yard is a paradise for puddle jumpers.
E took advantage of that this afternoon in a way that brings out the kid in me all over.

She had hours of fun mucking around in the dirt and puddles.
I love that it is warm out. Doing this sort of thing in the winter is not quite so tolerable in the freezing temperatures.

I am not sure why, and not that I need a reason but E had more fun with her boots than wearing her boots.

That's our girl!!

Lemonade Stand

The lemonade stand.
It is a right of passage for any kid.
A true to childhood endeavour and one the K was so passionate about we just had to do one. I was so excited.
On our road we are not able to sit out, so I asked our lovely neighbors at Ash Berry Farms across the way and we took the afternoon shift. Her boys already do a stand but they had commitments today so we lucked out with the strawberry lovers.
K got up early and picked fresh raspberries and a bowl of mint to start making our wares.

We made a lovely batch of raspberry lemonade that was a hot seller and an iced mint tea that was yummy as well.
We made a few signs and the girls donned their aprons, ready to sell.

The farm was winding down from a super busy day, but we managed to almost sell out.
It was such a cute thing to watch, and I am so proud of K's abilities.
It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

A great way to spend a weekend morning is to go garage saleing.
I came across this gorgeous head board set....FREE!!!!
Just waiting for little ol' me to grab it.
J was less than enthused when I asked for his help to take it our of the van.
He sees junk, I see a great refurbish.
A palette day bed, for out on our bedroom deck, that I saw on Design Sponge.
Meant to be.
This dirty storage ottoman will be fabulous once I recover it with a funky fabric,.... $2.00.

Treasures Of The Day

I love K's enthusiasm for photography.
I often give her my older camera and let her go into the yard and shoot away. She has figured out some of the cameras settings but was so excited with this one that she recently found.
At first she said she was frustrated by it because it didn't focus but she said she decided to find the best pictures to take out of focus. Smart thinker.
I am delighted by what she did.
Check some out.

We had another great weekend of garage sales and I am over the moon for this find. A wooden Fisher Price Teaching Clock.
I got it for 75 cents. It is circa 1964 and still works perfectly.
I am still looking for the old style camera.
One day, somewhere, I will come across it.
A classic example that one mans' junk is another mans' treasure.

A quick update on the newest birds in our lives.
Those silly turkeys!!
The Toms are so funny as are starting to gobble.
I love the sound and it makes me laugh out loud each time I hear it.

The ladies are still in love and cannot get enough of chasing them around.
They are soon to be out sized by these feathered beasts but until then they are at the mercy of two tenacious girls.

And of course what is a day without our garden, a few new blossoms, and a delicious salad for dinner.
