Every year or two we buy new layers but the ready to lays' cost over $11 each.
That can add up fast.
We could buy unsexed chicks for $1.25 each but they are quite time consuming to raise and you often end up with a lot of roosters.
When hens brood over their own eggs, hatch them and raise them, that pretty much leaves me out of the picture and we get more layers ( and probably a few new roosters as well) but it is nature at it's best.
And other than some feed....it's free.
They have put some serious order in the hen house, poor hens where blindsided when we brought them home.
I simply can't wait for the chickie's to start a comin'.
Onto sewing..
Lately I haven't had as much time as I would like to do any sewing.
I did find this great idea from One Yard Wonders a while back and finally gave it a whirl.
Success.
It is an ingenious obi styled hot/cold pack.
I made one for a gift and I think I will make a few more.
The flax seeds are stuffed into channels for even distribution.
The channels are an awesome idea that I hadn't seen before.
Heat or chill the pack to your preference, fit pack into the back pocket, tie it on and enjoy.
I sure could have used one of these when I was first breastfeeding.
The cabbage thing really didn't do anything for me.
