Streak!! Crazy Girl

For her ninth birthday, K really, really wanted her hair streaked a lighter shade.
I had much reservation about this but hubby was super cool and thought it was no big deal.

 Away we went.

 And it was a party!!
One happy, happy girl.

 Waiting....waiting....

 Finally!!

Who's feeling pretty proud of herself?
My beautiful angel.
Now till the roots grow in......

Tattoo and You

I had the privilege of participating in a project by an amazing local photographer, Gordon Ross
He and his lovely assistant put together a book of people, their tattoos and their stories.

This beautifully made photo journal book  can be purchased.
I love mine.
It tells a part of my story.
Thank you Gordon for that opportunity.

And The There Were Two

 Ginger and
Ari are the two strong kittens.
Isabella was not so lucky.
She was handicapped and exhibited many troubling signs from the get go.
After two weeks and still half the size of the other 2, constantly crying and eyes not opening, it was no surprise that she passed on.
So sad.
Mama knew what she needed to do and sparing you the grouse details, she is a great mama of two beautiful babes.

Giving Dad Scare

He'll kill me if he knows this is on here, but might I remind him it's not the video!!
The girls played a very mean trick on dad, putting a snake in his shower.
But the trick became close to a nightmare when the snake hid down the drain and only came out, angrily I might add, once the hot water filled the drain.
He was a big snake and caused a big reaction from a very angry dad.
Game on girls!!
Game on!!

Kate's Quilt

As I love to quilt I have visions of the girls and I sitting together, stitching and quilting.
Visions of fabric store sessions, finding just the right pattern and material for the occasion.
Creating lovely quilts to share with family and friends, full of love and rich with talent.

Well K's first quilt went a little differently than I had envisioned.
More work than she has anticipated but no less love.
Her initial intention was for the quilt to be made and given to YANA for a sick child.
My heart melted when she expressed desire to make a quilt for that reason.
After what ended up being months, due to lack of interest and slight intimidation at the vast amount of work one quilt entails, the finished quilt now sits on her reading chair.
It's hers to love and enjoy.
The next one will be for YANA.

The finished quilt.
I will cherish it forever.
And save it for the day she may choose to have children of her own.

Pet Shop Cake for a Dear Friend

A feeble attempt the morning after a very late night.
Creating cake magic was not in the cards that day but I think it turned out pretty cute non the less.
The birthday girl was happy and thats what matters most.

New Picnic Table

I must admit I'm in love with our yard.
We have an 8 acre wonderland.
It's no shortage of work but it is all worth it.

The other night hubby came home from work after a long week and still had the energy to start on a huge project.

He started cutting and ripping a couple logs we have had laying in our yard from a previous clearing project.
It will get milled one day but till then it sits and slowly gets cut into other projects.

This monster of a shelter/shack is smack dab in the middle of our back yard.
I stare at it from our dining room.
Not too pretty at all really. it seems to be just a catch all for the yard and a big cat litter box.

Until yesterday when J took 6 hours to construct my dream table.
I have been asking for 8 years for this and now that its done it seems our yard is ready to complete.
It makes this house a home as we are now uber able to be hospitably.

 Look at this crazy table.
7 x14 feet, with bench seating all around.

I can't wait for the parties we'll have here.
I'm equally as excited to start landscaping around it and make our back yard a masterpiece.

Thank you honey!!
