We spent the afternoon cleaning and gardening at a local community park to help in a small way for earth day.
We do these things any way, in many ways, on many days but with the title "Earth Day" it seemed more fitting.
I like to each that ever-day is Earth Day.

Foot Wear
I've been wondering where all my photos have been going.
I realized that I have been using my iPhone so much that my Nikon gets left in the dust except for the rare big occasion.
I spent sometime today going through all my phone photos, most of which I use for instagram, and figured I better blog a few to catch up.
Then I noticed a bit of a pattern.
My footwear.
Now anyone who has known me for any amount of time knows my love of shoes.
This shows me that I still have that passion, and I have to say I think I passed it onto my girls.

Feather Hair Clips
Another quick crafting session because I wasn't about to spend $15 on one of these clips when they take 3 minutes and $1 each.
Now the girls are sporting colourful hair that they can put in and out on a whim in any colour they want.
I wish I had done that as a kid, would have saved me a lot of time, money and hair problems over the years!!

First Swim of the Year
The local lake isn't know for being super warm, and with this not so lovely spring were having it may be a long while till we get a chance to enjoy the water.
Well, not if your my little E.
She grabbed her wetsuit and was ready to go.
I thought for sure once we got there she'd bail out, but no.
She barley hesitated and in she went.
Quite proud of herself too.
Thankful for her wetsuit I bet though!!

Bead Looms
E had taken a shine to beading.
The loom sat at the table for her to bead whenever she could.
After a couple of days she had made it long enough to wear.
She's one proud little bean.

Shooting Bows
We have been shooting bows everyday lately.
It is such a great past time.
I love the history and we hope to one day be able to make our own.
I love to learn and teach the girls.
J is extremely talented and has been doing it for years.
He is the best guide, with his gentle nature and is assured techniques.
I love the quietness of my mind when I have to shoot, the strength of mind and body.
I found my calling for a bit!!

Mango Popsicles
Yup!
That time of the year again.
Well according to my kids, now that they can were flip flops and shorts it must be popsicle making time.
I mixed defrosted frozen mangoes and plain yogurt with a splash of oj and a smidge of honey.
They worked beautifully and tasted marvellous.

Rock Candy
We've been studying rocks these days.
No rock study is complete without making rock candy.
The girls got a bit impatient after about a week but were happy to be able to nibble on their delicious sugar rocks!!

Sew Sweet
My little angel E has become quite the sewer lately.
She asked everyday if she can make something.
Of course!!
Pillows seem to be her thing right now.
I let her loose in my sewing room and she manages to cut the fabric, invert it and sew, right it and stuff, then finish off.....all with out asking me for help.
And on my very precious, very expensive sewing machine!!
She is confident and happy doing it and I benefit with all these cute little treasures.

Draw Something (or Pictionary as We Used to Call It)
With iPhones come all the latest apps and such.
I am no stranger to keeping up with the times and getting swept up in the craze.
Draw Something has me hooked, well more so the kids.
They love to sit with my and guess each clue and figure out the best way to draw the next one.
So I decided lets go a bit hands free, (or retro as my kids say) and I pulled out my dated version of Pictionary.
It was great to open the box and see the games once played many, many moons ago.
Great Memories!!
I am thrilled to see the girls having so much fun at this, drawing, laughing and just being relaxed in the morning while the sun heats up the day.
If you haven't tried the app I suggest you do, but I also suggest grabbing some pencils and letting your hands create.

Pop Can Earrings
Here's a recycling craft that anybody can do, if they so wanted to.
Take an empty pop/beer can and rinse it out.
Cut it open and press flat.
It is a really pliable metal and cuts with regular scissors super easy.
Cut out the desired shape, I folded it in two to get the both sides to match.
I then took a ball point pen and drew designs on them.
Once I spray painted them and let them sit over night i poked holes in the tops and finished them up with earring findings.
They are so light weight.
The girls each love theirs and want to make them for everyone they know.

Ski Day
A perfectly sunny, warm day and the girls were so excited to go skiing for the day.
The hill was packed but we decided to do night skiing so we started as the masses were heading out.
It was ideal.
Even Leonard had his fun in the snow.
Now that they can ski on their own it is much easier to manage and we can take them separately.
I love where we live!!!

Easter Egg Hunt In Cumberland
Every year I usually put on our annual easter egg hunt in our yard.
This year I decided that I had enough and we all agreed it was time to let it go.
Literally the next day I caught wind that the annual youngsters easter egg hunt in Cumberland needed a coordinator, so I stepped in to run the show.
It was a very quickly organized event but it was a great success.
The weather even came out to play and everyone had a great time.
