I can't knit.
I've tried and it's just not my thing, probably because it takes forever to get anything done.
I like projects that are quick and productive.
Being a task orientated type of gal this scarf is a perfect blend of easy and quick I look for, so I can get to the next thing I want to do.
I took some yarn that the kids picked out and cut it t=into strips.
I laid the strips out side by side and ran the sewing machine over it, back and forth.
The look is an effective one but next time I will do some twists and add some beads I think, for a little pizazz!
Any-who, the kids love it and I got to us some fancy fun yarn for a change.

Puppy Toys (and of course more pics)
Can he get any cuter?!!
Leonard is making his way into our hearts and home.
He is such a beautiful little man.
We spent the other morning making him some new toys to play with.
One from fleece with tonnes of knots proved to be perfect for playing tug of war and for him to toss around and chase.
This little felt envelope is hilarious.
He tries to get the treat out from inside, perfect for long sitting sessions.
This gizmo is just a strap folded with rope sewn in loops throughout.
WOW!
I should patent this one.
It's a winner for sure.
And just because he's so darn cute, here's a couple more pics!!

Our New Project
Meet Fergus!!
Hubby came home with old boy the other day and it rubs like a charm.
It needs a lot of work but the fact that the engine is sound is huge.
Were just waiting for the insurances to get worked out and then off I go, cruising the strip with my babe.
Think it'll be awesome for a photo shoot too!!
J took the girls for a spin in the yard and they loved it too.
Not sure who was prouder of burning out, him or the kids!~
Yup, Here's to a new project.
Years of restoring this will prove to be a wonderful thing and one day it will get passed onto our girls for them and their hubby's to enjoy with the kids.
I've always wanted to restore an old vehicle.
I'm super excited, but we have to decide if we are going to go for an authentic look or turn it into a hot rod!!

Puppy Treats
Lucky Pup gets his very own home-made goodies.
They are actually very easy to make I must admit and I kinda wonder why I never made them for my other pooches.
Well now we do and the dogs are grateful for it!
There so good even E sneaks a bite or two when she's doling them out.

Feather Earrings
K is all about fashion and beauty at this stage in her life.
She pours over fashion magazines and has a keen eye for what goes.
Although feathers in fashion have been around, almost too much, for a while now.
It has only been recently that she figured out that we can make them and put on sterling silver hooks for her sensitive ears.
Away we went to the bead shop and walked out with $30 dollars of feathers and finding.
All said and done these cost a total of $2 to make.
And they only take 5 minutes, if that, to put together.
Guess who's going to be decked out in feathers for each of her outfits?

Spring Skirt
I love that I have so much fabric on hand, (that's only because I have a heavy fabric habit and can't leave the fabric store without something to add to the stock.)
E asked for a new spring skirt and picked out this beautifully bright fabric, perfect spring colour I thought.
I love even more that I can sew these skirts in under 10 minutes.
Happy Spring Sewing!!

Brick House Betties (Helmet Panties)
The Brick House Betties are a hot local roller derby team.
A group of fine ladies that I miss terribly.
This morning I watched a scrimmage between them and the Faster Pussycats of Vancouver.
I left feeling excited for them and jealous of all the fun they were having.
I also felt sad I wasn't playing.
I miss it.
But I did realize that since I am in the worst physical shape of my life, roller derby is not something I can do at this stage in my life.
This time I redid this pattern and they worked like a charm.
I just love the strut!!
These photos are from todays game.
Kinda wanted to get the helmet panties in action.

Cabbage Paper Painting/Sciencey Stuff
I found this recipe for a crafty science experiment, on Pinterest of course.
The instructions were a tad vague bu tI managed to figure it out.
It takes some prep but it was worth it.
Not sure if the kids really got the whole science behind it, I think they thought it was more magic than anything!! Just joking.
I cut half a purple cabbage up and boiled in about 1 cup of water.
Cut watercolour paper into small squares.
Soaked paper in juice for about 10 minutes and flipped to soak the other side for about the same time.
I initially thought that there wasn't enough juice but that was deceiving.
The paper doesn't really absorb a lot, so it goes a long way.
I let them dry on the pan overnight and flipped them over a couple times as I walked by just to be sure they didn't stick.
The next day we gathered a bunch of liquids to use to write on the paper with.
Some worked better than others, for obvious scientific reasons.
I'm not too sure I'd rush out to do this one again but it was well worth a try.
I wish they would have drawn picture and then we could have at least hung them up and show them off.
Maybe next time.

Paint Sample Notebooks
Cut, fold and staple.
Voila!!
Little note books to stick in your purse, by your bed or for the kids backpack.
I am an avid note writer and make my endless amounts of daily lists.
One thing that really aggravates me is when I cannot find a scratch pad anywhere.
So I made these little cuties, and will never be without again.

Spring Dresses
The girls are getting so big so fast.
Every year I try to make them at least one special dress, this year it was for Easter.
It ended up in a full on photo shoot and left me having difficulty deciding which ones to post.
SO I chose a few.
I love just how happy these two always are.
And the fact that they are together pretty much 24/7 and still are smiling is a testament to how awesome they are and how much they love each other.
And in those years to come when I might eat those words, I'll have these photos to show them and remind them, and me.
Happy first day of spring!!

First NHL Hockey Game
Last weekend K and dad went to a Canucks game.
It was so fun for them to get a chance to spend some time together and to see the live action in Rogers Stadium.
Playing against the Montreal Canadiens but losing pretty bad didn't matter at all.
I love the smile in this picture.
I know this will be in her memory bank forever.
True Canadian girl!!

Leonard!!
OK here he is!!!
Meet our newest, precious family member Leonard the border collie.
He is so intelligent, which is in stark contrast to our other lovely goons.
Our lovers not thinkers, Molly and Lucy, are actually quite happy and rather indifferent to Leonard so the transition is easy.
It will be great to ease Molly out of constant play as she is getting old and her legs are getting stiffer and sore.
Lucy will have a playmate and a companion when Molly leaves us.
Big dogs age so fast and she is already over 7.
I dont see her living past 10, poor girl.
The girls are smittened and just thrilled that he will be an inside dog, of which the other 2 are not.
They were ecstatic when I said he could sleep with them, something I may regret with all the laundry and such.
But they are so happy.
I wish I had a cuddle dog when I was a kid, heck I even want one now.
Meet our newest, precious family member Leonard the border collie.
We though we wanted a small tea cup chihuahua or some such, but when we met Leonard weeks ago I knew he was for us.
And as fate would have it, he is now ours.
We don't actually get him full time for another 2 weeks as the incredible breeders want to keep him and his litter mates for a full 12 weeks, which is just amazing.
He gets the best of both worlds right now, and gets day trips or overnighters with us when we ask for him.
