Sweet Peas!! Oh Please!!

Sweet peas have to be my favourite.
Peonies and sweet peas!!
They are so fragrant and bright, grow easily and happily in my humble garden.
They adorn my tables and shelves for the summer, filling the house with their beauty.

I'd rather flowers than diamonds any day!!!

West Coast-Long Beach

Last week I took the girls, my cousin, who is on an extended stay with us from White Horse, and a couch surfer for a getaway to Tofino/Ucluelet.

We rented wetsuits and bodyboards, headed for the beach and had hours of funs.

The weather was, as per usual, overcast and cool but that didn't stop the girls from spending some 4 hours playing in the surf and waves.

I have to say it was a perfect getaway.
We had nothing to do but play and relax, something I didn't realize how much I needed till I got it.

Check out this amazing shot I managed to get of a crow that was perched above our beach set up.
I'm getting it printed on canvas to hang in the hallway.

The west coast is full of marvellous adventures; beaches and water, trails and hikes.

We managed to see and do quite a it in 3 days.
I have to admit that my heart is telling me that I may want to live there.

I have a special spot in my heart for this beach.
It is where J and I professed our love for each other and knew we'd be spending our life together.
This up coming weekend is our 11th wedding anniversary.

Smoking Lily Fabric= Endless Sewing

While in Victoria this past week I stopped by my favouritist store in the whole world, Smoking Lily.
It is no secret my passion for their clothes, accessories and such.
I go gaga for the stuff.

Lucky for me they sell fabric scraps in craft kits, and I bought 6 packages.
Greedy?
Maybe!
...but quite savvy as well.
Considering I was able to make 3 long custom printed cotton scarves right off the hop I feel that I have my monies worth.

In the packages there was enough fabric that my mind is swirling with ideas.
Scarves, pant cuffs, tea cozies, pillow cases, shirt, quilt top, coin purses, totes, neck warmers and arm cozzies....and so on.
I am inspired and am finding it hard to find the time!!!

Although I did find a few moments the other afternoon to refashion a black pencil skirt that had lost its lustre.
I took it all apart and re-stiched the sides with some pink printed linen in the seams.
I put a slit up the back and topped it with 4 rows of ruffles.
On the front I placed a large victorian portrait of a studious lady.
Adding some ribbons and lace for some flare, I now have a super comfy and unique skirt.

Nobody was home to help take my picture and the mirror trick wasn't working in my favour, so this was the best I could do.

Printed Fabric Totes

Using a small utiltity knife to carve a rubber eraser into a creative stamp was fun and much easier that I initially thought it would be.
I drew a simple shape onto a small white easer and carefully cut it out.
E made a snail.

I mixed some fabric medium into acrylic paint to make it fabric wash and dryer safe.
E printed a plain white cotton piece of material with her stamp.

She added some painted embellishments, hearts and such.
After the fabric dried I sewed it up into a cute little tote for E to use.

I chose to make a whale stamp.
And teal green was the perfect match for some fabrics that I had to make myself a tote too.

I like this fabric, linear and colourful.

I added some buttons to give it a bit of a punch.
These bags will be great for the beach and days out in summer.
