North Island Wildlife Recovery Association

Please have a look at all the amazing stuff they do.

A few weeks back the girls and I set out for an adventure down island.
We had our sites set on The NIWRA.
I was expecting a quaint little facility with a few wild birds and such to look at.
I was floored at what we found.

This has to be one of the most beautiful yards/grounds that is for the general public I have seen.
It is so well maintained and lovingly up-kept.
We spent hours checking it all out.

We found an informative centre loaded with great stuff for the kids to do.
First we watched a video about the place and of the birds they have released.
I was moved to tears.

Great interactive learning centres all around to keep the kids busy.

Every cage had a description and name of the bird/animal.
It was great so the kids could run around and learn on their own.

Many of the birds were so friendly, seeings as they are wild and will be released one day.
They seemed to really like having people around.

This was a fabulous centre that housed many stuffed local animals in their habitat.
Beside each one was a blurb and a little box that when pressed would do t hat specific animals call.
The kids found that that was too cool.

We are so lucky to have so many wonderful places to visit here on the island.
As we wrap up the school year we are getting in as much of these as we can.
