Hair Raising Adventure..(literally)

In my youth I was known to be a little wild child with my hair.
I always had it in crazy styles and it usually reflected the times or my moods.
I am now assuming that there is a DNA gene that can be passed.

Case in point, my precious girl K.
Turning 7 next week.
Was bald at birth and was mistaken for a boy till age 2 when she finally grew some hair.

She never had a hair cut till she was 5 and even then it was only for a trim.

We would do her hair in any way possible, braids, pony tails, and such.

Eventually she decided to cut bangs in.
It made her look so different and really brought our her face from behind the mop of curls.
All that changed this past fall when the Olympics were here and we went over to Vancouver to be part of the action.
En route she had the epiphany that she needed to cut her hair.

I gave her the ins and outs of such a drastic change and explained it as I had experienced it many times before.
She was so excited to go ahead with it and the results were wonderful.

She loved it and was thrilled with the response from everyone but loved the ease of wearing short hair.
So she went shorter.

And then a wee bit longer.

Today K finished her finally tests for homeschooling and has officially completed grade one.
She did great throughout this first year as homeschoolers and excelled in her work.
We are so proud of her and more importantly she is proud of herself.
She has mentioned that there was something she wanted for a grad gift and we thought that she would have forgotten but no sirree.
Today K graduated from grade one and ........

wait for it.........

Got a Mohawk.
What else is there to say.
It must be a genetic thing.

And she is pleased as punch.
Should have seen Nana's face though...ha ha.
Go Girl!!!
