Okay...So It Seems That My Posts Have Become a Weekly Affair......So Here Goes

All the signs are here.
Blossoms. Warm air. Longer days.
Yes summer is slowly emerging from it's long cold slumber and I couldn't be happier.
I long to wear shorts and carefree dresses, flip flops and let my painted toes wiggle in the breeze.
To sit by a water source and relax in the heat.

I am in awe of what a few sunny, warm days can do to the yard.
Green is everywhere.

Its' a jungle out there.

My greenhouse is bursting and ready to be transplanted soon.

I have yet to mow the acres.
Crazy, wild growing grass and weeds that needs so seriously to be done that it has become a joke around here.
I have never let it go like this before and I have to admit it is rather liberating.
I also know how wonderful it will look once it finally does get the attention it requires.
A little yard manicure is definately on my weekend chore list.

The dogwoods are fantastic.
Can you see the fly on the petal?
Last weekend the ladies and I headed to visit J in camp.
We packed up and were ready for a 3 day adventure.
The weather had other plans though.
Thankfully I am well versed in B.C. weather and brought some crafty hotel room activities to keep the youngsters at bay.

Paint is a must have rainy day craft.
Have you ever tried salt dough?
It is a fabulous medium to work with and super easy to make and clean up.
You can air dry or it can go in the oven.
K made this sweet tea set for her Nana's mothers day gift.
We just need to paint it.
I will post a recipe once I find it again.

Lake Cowichan is a cute little town that we have visited quite regularly over the years.
I am quite familiar with the local charm and all it's nooks and crannies.

En route home we stopped in at a petting zoo and being homeschoolers we pretty much had the place to ourselves on a Monday afternoon.
We got to milk a goat, which oddly turned the girls completely off for some reason.
But then we got to feed said milk to the baby lambs.
Oh my!!! How sweet that was.
It reminds me of when we spent the spring bottle feeding baby Ben.
Since the bird died K has been in the market for a new prized pet.
She has decided that she would like a bunny.
Well she actually would like 3.
Because she thought they were so cute when they "cuddled".
"Look how much they like each other mom!"
Now generally I would have taken that moment to go into one of my long spiels about mating, the birds and the bees, Yudda yudda.
I felt I had to let it go....as "Yup! They sure are friendly" is all I could muster up without spitting out an awkward giggle.
My personal favorites had to be the pigs.
I have a weakness for those cute noses.
The way they look at you, sniff and snort makes my heart swoon.
That is probably why I couldn't ever own one.
I would be devastated when it was time to bring them to market.

This little guy was brought in, 2 days old and rejected by his mama.
I was privileged enough to get to name him and so named him Boggle ( they had a board game theme going on this year).
His ear was creased and he could barley stand.
I just about snuck him out under my shirt, but wasn't sure how I would explain that to the kids.

The ride home was nice, it is always nice to go away but just as nice to go home.
Funny thing, but if you can notice the speedometer is pinned at 200 km/h.
I couldn't take the time to really focus as you can tell, I was driving and with my precious cargo.
And no I wasn't actually going that fast, my delinquent van was having a tantrum.

When I downloaded the camera this sweet little picture was on it.
Ahhhh!! My girls.
How sweet.
Little stinkers.....
But wait....
I uploaded in the wrong order and don't have the patient to redo it.
SO.......

When we were driving down island we came into a community festival merely by chance (chance being the town has a great raw food restaurant).
There was so much going on and couldn't have planned it better.
Popcorn, balloons, face painting, crafts.
And being that it was a Fire and Ice Festival chili samples from all the local eateries and ice carving galore all with a backdrop of music, laughter and pleasantly no rain.
Perfect.
ICBC had a stand about drinking and driving.
Does it mean anything when your child can golf and walk the line better with these drunk goggles on?
Maybe another eye exam in her near future.

Unfortunately we weren't able to stay the day, so we didn't get to see any finished ice sculptures.
It sure is neat to watch though.
And heh! Guess what RAW chili.
Yes and that is E, my raw food girly, chowing down the stuff.
I promise to not make these 'week in review' posts often.
My hands are sore from typing and I need to go to bed.
Nighty night.
