Summertime.....I can hear Janis Joplin Singing The Phrases

I woke up this morning and realized that we are in full summer mode.
I do not think we have sat at our table to eat in weeks, the BBQ has replaced the kitchen and I only spend enough time in there to do a quick spot clean and minor food prep.

Our diet is basically a mainstay of liquids and fruit with a smattering of snacks we forage from the fridge, but mainly we eat from the garden.
Truthfully this heat has made our appetites none existent.

As for the house, the sheets haven't been changed in over a week and the bathroom could use a serious cleaning but I did managed to finally fold the laundry as it had piled up for 2 weeks that was becoming a hazard when the girls went searching for their must have bathing suits, and yes, sadly I think the vacuum is lost.

The best part is that usually I would be uptight about all this unruliness and blow a fuse.
I would become militant about the diet and start a new regime, immediately, to compensate for our definite lack of nutrition.
I would spend a whole morning in a cleaning frenzy while J and the girls hid out of my sight.

But not today.

I am loving that I can just accept it and enjoy it for what it is..... A Complete Mess.
That it is not a sign of my inabilities but a sign of my abilities to enjoy the moments.
That I have seized the opportunity to bask in the sun with my family and I see that my priorities are being taken care of by simply wading in any water source we can find together and happy and healthy.
I love summer.
Maybe tomorrow I will clean.
Probably not.

Signs of Summer in Our Yard:
The turkeys are hot!!!

These industrious little ants have taken their highway to a new level.

The end of another hot day.
The kids are becoming wired and fatigued, they stay up really late and sleep.
I sort of like the schedule but think it will be a hard one to break once school roles around.

We finally ate at Pescadoras.
Without a doubt the best fish tacos I have ever eaten.

I am making watermelon slushies today because they are soooo refreshing.

Summer flowers to enjoy if we actually ever sat at the table

A little fanciness I made to enjoy more water.
I infused lavender, nasturtiums and mint into ice cubes to flavour the water. Yummy.

The little kitty, Bella, is such a character. She has brought so much love into the house.
She is a cutey with character.

Molly at the beach, terrified of water but extremely happy to be cool.

An sleeping adventure on the daybed. The bugs were horrible but the cool air was delightful.

Ever poor Lucy was trying to get in the action.
I hope she doesn't bust the pool, I think I would cry.
