Cider Pressing BBQ Fun

We are so fortunate to live in a neighbourhood of amazingly wonderful, friendly people.
Every person around us we consider friends and some even family.
We are like minded wholesome people with fun, love and adventure at heart.
When we get invited over to any of their houses for a visit or lucky enough for a dinner, we jump at the chance to be there.
Tonight was no exception.

We were invited to the berry farm up the road, to enjoy an end of the season BBQ.
There were new faces and new friends and we all sat around chatting and munching as the kids played themselves out running around endlessly.

There was a really unique item that captured all our attentions this evening.
A wooden cider press.

A relative brought over boxes and buckets of nice freshly picked apples and the kids had a hay day chucking them into the press.
Each armed with a cup and a couple of minutes later fresh apple juice for us all to savour.
Thirst quenching in a way no store bought beverage could ever hope to be.

I love the earthly goodness we get to offer our kids from the bounties of our gardens and local farms.
I love knowing that we are giving them the best food possible, teaching them the healthiest way to eat and giving them the best start to a long and fantastic life, in hopes that they will sustain the knowledge and pass it on to their children.
And so on.
I believe our hope for the future is our children and we have to teach them that TV, fast food and microwaves are not what the world is about.

Happiness is a kids smile, as bright as a flower in the sun.
