The Yah and Grrr's of Today

Saturday Garage Sale Super Find

A perfect little vanity stool, sturdy and strong. Just in need of some new paint and fabulous fabric.
I am so happy for this little goody.

K brought me this sweetly special bouquet this morning.
She smiled and said she love me as she ran off to do whatever it was that needed her attention in the yard.
So thoughtful of her to stop and think of me whenever the spirit catches her.
I am grateful that she still thinks of me like this.
I can only hope it will last forever.

Warning Rant Coming Up!!!!

Maybe I was feeling guilty but as I went through the check out grocery shopping today, I heard the unmistakable sneer from the cashier as she asked if I needed bags today.
97% of the time I use my reusable bags, but today the stars weren't aligned.
They have their "spot" in my van so I do not forget.
I keep one in my purse for emergencies and even have a little on on my key chain, you know...just in case.
But today somehow the universe decided I wasn't to use mine and I found myself in the checkout without and having to say yes for some plastic ones.
"We charge 5 cents each you know", mumbled the cashier as she disgruntly ripped bags from her little stash.
I guess I should be happy that she has gotten used to people bringing their own, but come on really is it that much trouble, and I am paying for it!!( in so many ways).
Then with my guilt on alert, I walked out of the store, cart full with contraband bags, waiting to see who would notice, and a man walked by with his armload of reusables and passed a comment on the environment and my impact on it by shopping today.
I smiled and kept walking, restraining my desire to let him have an earful.
GGRRRR!!!!
One of those moments that kept the running dialogue in my head going all day.
It is amazing how smart and witty I can be after hours of pondering the moment.

  1. But think - even a year ago that man may not have been carrying those bags and wouldn't have thought to comment to you, change IS happening! FZ

  2. I imagine that same man climbing into his gas-guzzling SUV, smug in the knowledge of his important contribution to improving the world's environmental problems, and I shudder. Man, that would have bugged me all day too.
